In Color: Beauty Good Enough to Eat
By Daria
Wright
‘Tis the season to be…hungry. But
instead of overfeeding myself this holiday season, I’d rather overindulge
in products I’ve found about town that are good enough to eat. Here are
some of my favorites:
A
product inducted into my makeup kit this month is the Ojon Tawaka
Rejuvenating Lip Kit ($44 at sephora.com).
This lip kit’s cocoa scent is as sweet as a Tootsie Roll, and it sent my
mind racing back into my virtually chocolate-covered childhood. Although I’ve
overcome a penchant for devouring anything chocolate flavored that I could get
my hands on in recent years, resisting the urge to gobble this treat up is the
most challenging part about using the gentle “Lip Exfoliating Cream”
and “Lip Care Treatment.” The exfoliant is full of nourishing oils
and avocado to restore dry lips. The post lip buffing treatment includes “wildcrafted”
cocoa, shea and cupuacu butters for continued hydration.
I’ve
always been a fan of Carol’s Daughter. But, the Almond
Cookie Bath & Body Oil prompted an utterly senseless beauty and wellness
rampage ($20 at carolsdaughter.com).
Post shower, I applied this aromatic oil to my slightly damp skin, and the scent
of almond blended with marzipan, sandalwood and musk wafted throughout my apartment.
And I just couldn’t get enough. Next, I purchased Carol’s
Daughter’s Almond Cookie Treats Gift Set ($57 at carolsdaughter.com).
This delicious set includes the Almond Cookie Body Cleansing Gel, Shea
Soufflé, Eau de Toilette, a purse-size Atomizer, and a classic
bath sponge.
Marcia
Kilgore, founder of Bliss Spa launched spa-inspired collection, Soap &
Glory in 2006. After indulging in one delicious beauty treat after another,
my skin was thirsty for some much needed exfoliation, which I found courtesy of
Kilgore’s products. I haven’t found too many scrubs that I enjoy at
lower price points, but Soap & Glory’s Sugar Crush
Body Scrub is my one exception ($16.99 at target.com).
The ingredient list isn’t anything particularly fancy, but it left my skin
feeling smooth, and delicately fragranced. The scent of brown sugar, fused with
the essence of lime, and almond oil is about as delicious as a holiday cookie.
I love trying new things, especially when those things curb my sugar
craving and leave me looking, and feeling better than ever. So, at the end of
a sugary, decadent day, I say: “Better the beauty counter than the bakery”
when indulging in sweet treats.
