In recent years Vampires have been portrayed as funny, think Once Bitten starring Jim Carey; buff – as in Blade’s Wesley Snipes and Jessica Biel; even kitschy, a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Fast forward to 2009 and the vampire du jour is … pretty?
Yup, thanks to the overwhelming popularity of The Twilight Saga, the allure of the vampire is spurring everything from scents to cosmetics. And since we’re not too cool to be inspired by movie looks we’ve loved (hello Heathers, Mean Girls and Sex and The City), we’ve rounded up our favorite Twilight inspired products.
The TwilightBeauty site, launched in conjunction with The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which opens in theatres nationally today, features must haves that are oh-so-wearable for even the day walkers amongst us.
Here’s what we love, and why.
Twilight Venom is a crimson lip stain we adore from a company we also love, DuWop.
Promising to plump and hydrate lips with a proprietary blend of argan oil, avocado oil, olive oil and vitamin E, this little stain keeps lips eternally colored; $16 at www.twilightbeauty.com.
Also from TwilightBeauty, we’re hooked on this richly hued metallic mascara that thickens, lengthens and conditions lashes.
Choose from hues such as “Rapture,” black, “Lapiz,” a deep, dark blue and “Mist,” a dark grey; $22 at www.twilightbeauty.com.
Julie Hewett’s Twilight Palette left us looking more beautiful then blood-suckin’, and that’s a good thing.
The four colors included are all you’ll need to create vampy smoky eyes. Included in the set are “Brunette,” a rich velvety brown; “Pola,” a highlighting shadow, “Black Chandelier,” a rich ebony, and “Swank,” a gentle shade of pewter color; $48 at www.juliehewett.net.
Pair some of these pretty products with your already stunning bone structure, and everyone will just want to look at you for as long as they can.
And if that doesn’t ring a Bell-a, you may not be a true Twilight fan.
