NYFWAll Eyes on New York Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC is just wrapping up and we've got our eyes on the top trends in beauty from the shows of Derek Lam, Tracy Reese, Lela Rose and more.

True Blue

Nathan Johnson crafted bright blue peepers for the models at Project Runway alum Leanne Marshall's Fall 2010 fashion collection. (If you watched PR Season 5, Marshall's collection continues to show off her amazing knack for creating textural effects and draping).

Johnson created a look on the models' eyes that managed to keep up with the stunning clothes by applying a white shadow first to create an ultra-neutral base. Next, a true blue was applied from lower lid to crease.
At Derek Lam's Fall 2010 show Estée Lauder's Tom Pecheux applied navy and royal blue shadow on the lids paired with a metallic shadow - used to create a thick eyeliner effect-on the lower lash line.

Beauty in ColorBeauty In Color: 5 Beauty Truths
by Daria V. Wright

Some trends in beauty are here today, gone even faster. But who has time for fly by night fads? This month, I've rounded up five beauty truths to honor throughout your lovely lifetime.

Chipped nail polish is NOT in

An article in the New York Times last year declared chipped nail polish as an official trend. Don't believe it... ever.
Newly lacquered nails scream sophistication; and speaking of NY, my favorite nail shade is Big Apple Red ($9). At the very first sign of distress to my perfect paint job, I use Cutex Nail Polish Remover Pads ($3), always conveniently tucked away in my cosmetics bag for a quick fix.
