Best and Worst BB Creams

A year ago, we'd never even heard of BB creams and then, much like Jennifer Lawrence, BB creams were all anyone could talk about. And while you may now be spotting BB creams on the shelves of your local drugstores and specialty beauty boutiques, not many of us really know what this suddenly-trendy product promises to do. This week we're breaking down what the heck BB cream actually is, whether or not you really need one and, of course, which BB creams are the best, and the worst, on the market.

Everyone wants great-looking lips. Unfortunately, our lips may lose both fullness and definition as we age, and makeup doesn't always help hide these flaws. But now Restylane®, which helps smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds instantly, can be used to enhance your lips, too.

In fact, Restylane -- the first FDA-approved dermal filler for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years -- is setting the standard for lip treatment. It provides fullness that you can't get with over-the-counter cosmetics. After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness, but these side effects are typically mild and usually last less than 14 days.

Restylane helps keep lips beautiful and natural-looking. Plus, one treatment can last up to 6 months. Talk to a doctor about the ideal lip for you.

Please see Important Safety Considerations for Restylane below.

Restylane can be used for lip enhancement in patients over 21 years and to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).

Important Safety Considerations for Restylane

Restylane should not be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to microorganisms known as gram-positive bacteria, or by people with serious allergies to drugs that have previously required in-hospital treatment. Restylane should not be used by people with bleeding disorders.

Use of Restylane at the site of skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infection should be postponed until healing is complete. In these instances, Restylane use could delay healing or make your skin problems worse. After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14 days in lips. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years. Rarely, the doctor may inject into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin. Although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur. If you have had facial cold sores before, an injection can cause an outbreak. To avoid bruising and bleeding, you should not use Restylane if you have recently used drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting. Restylane should not be used during pregnancy, when breastfeeding, or in patients under 18 years for nasolabial folds.

Treatment volume should be limited to 6.0 mL in wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, and

limited to 1.5 mL per lip, as greater amounts significantly increase moderate and severe injection-site reactions. The safety or effectiveness of treatment in areas other than nasolabial folds and lips has not been established in controlled clinical studies.

Restylane is available only through a licensed practitioner. Complete product and safety information is available at www.RestylaneUSA.com.
