Love it or Leave it: Moisturizers
Dry, flaky skin has no place among the fashion-forward and beauty-loving set. But with countless products promising hydrated, smooth skin, some moisturizers are worth their weight while others fall flat. We’ve done the dirty work, and we’re dishing about which moisturizers, for both body and skin, are worth picking up and those to leave far behind.
Love it: We love Booty Parlor's Flirty Little Secret Luminizing Body Butter ($26 at bootyparlor.com). It soaks into skin immediately leaving skin noticeably softer and smoother with a touch of illumination from the lotion’s slight shimmer and the sweet scent of blackberry and honey. The healthy addition of pheromones will make it hard for the guy in your life to keep his hands off!
Leave it: Wei East White Lotus Daylight Perfection Cream is a facial cream designed to add deep moisture to skin ($68 at weieast.com). Unfortunately, it’s a bit heavy for everyday use and would certainly wreak havoc on breakout-prone skin. Plus the scent is more medicinal than mind-blowing.
Love It: We love the Jan Marini TransFormation Face Cream for its lightweight composition and heavenly scent ($78 at dermstore.com). It’s perfect for quenching even the driest skin. And, it’s light enough to wear under makeup and is gentle on skin.
Leave It: We’re leaving LUSH’s King of Skin Body Butter at the counter. This moisturizing bar, meant to be used in the shower, leaves behind an oily residue that’s anything but pleasant.
Love it: But, all is not lost from LUSH. We love the Dream Cream Body Cream ($22.55 at lushusa.com). This Vegan product is chock full of essential oils and is the perfect antidote to super-dry skin. Plus, the scent of this LUSH product is sweet enough to eat.
Leave it: HollyBeth's Citrus Body Cream seems like the perfect moisturizer on first application. It is thick, moisturizing and the citrus scent is to die for. However, within a matter of five days, the product became syrupy and coagulated. So, for a short shelf-life, this product earns our “leave it” vote.
Love it: Holly Beth’s Rose and Geranium Face Moisturizer has quickly become a favorite ($30 at hollybeth.net). This whipped, organic and natural moisturizer goes on smooth, infusing moisture immediately. It’s the perfect companion to a subsequent mineral makeup application as the intense moisture provides a perfect, smooth base.
Love it: Go!Go! African Emerald Canopy Shea Butter is an eco-friendly lotion that travels well in a strong, recyclable bottle ($15 at go-go.com). The luscious scent immediately transports you to the tropics with its exotic blend of ingredients- think aloe, grapeseed and sugar cane. Plus, environmentally friendly messaging will make any gal want to be a Go!Go! Girl!
Love it: Spa Dionis
Brand new to the Spa Dionis line, we love the scent and texture of the Body Butter in Wild Blackberry & Citrus ($12.95 at dionissoap.com). Not at all greasy, it almost appeared too light for a winter body moisturizer, but it is just right. Composed of shea butter and almond oil, this must-have tub is sure to disappear quickly.
Love it: Thymes Essentials Foot Scrub and Foot Cream is a worthy combo to combat dry and flaky feet ($18 each at thymes.com). The scrub works hard to slough away dry skin while exfoliating any dry or rough areas. It boasts a fresh scent and is enriched with vitamin E leaving my skin soft. The cream follows suit and leaves feet baby soft but not slippery.
