spa that served presenters, nominees and other
celebrities for three days during rehearsals and
during the shows. Justin Timberlake, Avril Lavigne
and the Dixie Chicks were just some of the guests
who stopped in for massages. SPARTY!
has now become the on-demand, on-site spa service
provider for concerts, charity events and fashion
shows.
The mastermind behind this blissful marriage
of partying and pampering is founder Alexis Ufland,
owner of Lexi Design, the Spa Consultancy firm
that has developed premier day, resort and medical
spas across Europe, Asia, South America and the
United States including many of New York’s
finest.
“I was so tired of going
to spas and having to whisper, drink green tea
and listen to Enya,” Ufland says.
Throwing a bachelorette party for her best friend’s
wedding was a pivotal turning point. “I
organized eight girls to get together at a spa
for massages and then go to a fun restaurant for
lunch. We hadn’t seen each other for ages,
and when we arrived at the spa we had five minutes
together before and after our services. What we
really wanted to do was catch up and cocktail!
Hence SPARTY! was born, a combination
of spa treatments, cocktails and hang-time!”
SPARTY! transforms empty and
furnished spaces into multi-room spas for massages,
facials, shaves, manicures and pedicures. Its
capabilities range from orchestrating “pop-up
spa stations” for manicures, pedicures and
other less extensive treatments like eyebrows
and make-up; and “pop-up spas” which
service complete 30 and 60 minute services. Celebs
like Paris, Nancy O’Dell, Shaquile O’Neil,
Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington and Omar Epps
have ordered pop-up spas because they are assured
every five-star detail is covered – from
catering fare, custom cocktails, music, décor
with flowing white sheers and candles, white fluffy
robes, exceptional therapists (who are fully licensed,
certified and insured) and, of course, the greatest
gift bags imaginable.
But you don’t have to be a celebrity to
SPARTY! Ufland caters to all,
creating and executing custom spa experiences
at corporate functions and private parties with
a myriad of themes. Or the option to customize
your own. “A few of our signatures are the
Marquis Manicure, manicures with Swarovski crystals
placed on the ring finger, and Saketinis, sake
martinis with Japanese Shiatsu massage,”
she says.
The range of services include: full body massage
with tables, mini-massages and chair massages;
manicures and pedicures; custom facials, spray
tanning; yoga; gentleman’s shaves; eyebrow
tweezing, waxing and shaping; hair service; threading,
ear candling and body waxing, make-up application
and lessons; bridal hair and make-up, henna tattoos;
psychic and tarot card readings.
In addition to transforming venues on-site and
putting into play a staff of 1,000 expert estheticians
and technicians across the country, SPARTY!’s
New York studio offers 2500-square-feet that can
be your blank canvas to paint. The loft space
features high ceilings, large windows, hardwood
floors, exposed brick, a kitchenette, in-house
music and video imaging.
